Beatrice Miller

October 29, 1921 — October 22, 2016

Beatrice F. Miller, 94, of Apple Creek, passed away after a period of declining health on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family, just seven days prior to her 95th birthday; she moved peacefully into her "new home" in Heaven. She will be greatly missed by all.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Wednesday with visitation starting at 10 am, service beginning at 11 a.m. at the Salem Mennonite Church with Pastor Haroldo Nunes officiating. Beatrice was born October 29, 1921 in Holmes County to Eli J. and Susie {Hochstetler} Wengerd. She lived a long, healthy, happy life and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
She attended Leeper's School, a one room school house, in Fredericksburg. She went on to employment at Fredericksburg Pottery, where she met her future husband. She was also employed as a housekeeper.
She married Daniel F. Miller on August 27, 1948. They were married 52 years. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2000. Together they raised 5 children.
They moved to Apple Creek in 1959 where she was a homemaker the rest of her years until later in life when she drove for Amish friends and neighbors locally. Beatrice had formerly attended Salem Mennonite Church, Wooster. She loved to quilt and stitched hundreds of beautiful quilts in her lifetime. She won many ribbons for her entries at the Wayne County Fair. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, reading, jigsaw and word search puzzles. She was well-known for her famous sandwich spread. She loved family gatherings and reunions, playing games and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by 5 children: Carolyn (Dave) Goodrich of Apple Creek, Gerald (Joyce) Miller of Geneseo, Ill., Sandra (Rick) Davis of Apple Creek, Marlene (Dan) Carter of Navarre, and Wade (BJ) Miller of Millersburg; 11 Grandchildren: Steve Goodrich, Karla (Eric) Schmid, Debbie (Tom) Fleshman, Diana (Bill) Camps, April (Aaron) Skinner, Angela Davis, Kim (Bryan) Mast, Joe (Amber) Carter, Laurie Kandel, Steve (Sherry) Hanna, Lisa (Chris) Williams; 18 Great Grandchildren: Ember (Adam) Madsen, Kayden Goodrich, Jaime Blakesly, Ryan (Tracey) Camps, Kacey Fleshman, Joshua (Ashley) Fleshman, Cody Camps, Addison Davis, Regan Skinner, Mason Skinner, Kelsey Mast, Kamron Mast, Jacob Carter, Emily Carter, Abby Carter, Logan Carter, Brendon Kandel, Morgan Hoxworth; 8 Great-Great Grandchildren: Blayze Madsen, Brandi, Trevin, Tanner, Mason Camps, Parker Blakesly, Athena Fleshman; siblings: Freeda Gingerich, Omar (Nettie) Wengerd, Velma Miller, Dallas Wengerd.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Phyllis Weaver, Alice Miller, Claude Wengerd, Paul Wengerd.
A special thank you to her caretakers Clara & David Miller, who welcomed her into their home. They, along with Emma & Anna Miller gave her their love, care and friendship. They became her second family. Thank you to the exceptional nurses and aides and all of the wonderful Hospice staff for the special care that was given to her during her brief illness. An extra special thank you to Mom's granddaughters for so unselfishly giving of their time in order to provide tender, loving care during her last weeks at home. We could not have done it without all of you!
