Ewald Bartel

Ewald Bartel, 85, of Wooster died Monday April 17, 2006 at Smithville Western Care Center after fighting a long courageous battle with leukemia. ?Private services will be at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel with Rev. Thomas Shaw and Rev. Lawrence Bartel officiating. ?Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. ?On line tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com.

He was born March 25, 1921 to Peter and Lydia (Drachenberg) Bartel. ?He immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1949. ?He married Lydia Tiede on July 25, 1943. ?She survives.

He worked as a tooling specialist at Shaffer Valve for 30 years. ?He attended the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children Erwin (Linda) Bartel of Dalton and Nely (Larry) Harris of Wooster, 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents a brother Gustav, and an infant brother died previously. ?
