Lawrence Carr, 83, of Wooster, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his residence.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darcy Miller officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Lawrence was born July 28, 1932 in Fredericksburg to Albert and Edith {Martin} Carr.
He graduated from Fredericksburg High School. Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Korean War for two years.
He married Shirley Lance on August 12, 1956. She died in 1983. He then married Betty Plant in 1984.
Lawrence worked for Will-Burt in Orrville for 20 years, then for Campbell Construction for seven years. After retirement, he worked for Gary Shetler Construction. Lawrence was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #651 in Fredericksburg. He was a member of Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church. Lawrence enjoyed collecting toy trucks, walking sticks, and when traveling he loved to attend outdoor theater productions.
Lawrence will be deeply missed by his wife Betty of 32 years; children Tim (Peg) Carr of North Lawrence, Tom Carr of Fulton, MO, Todd (Candice) Carr of Orrville, Tedd (Kelly) Carr and Troy (Jenny) Carr both of Wooster; step-daughters Becky (Randy) Houston of Wooster, Pat (Bruce) Whitworth of Shreve and Peg (Dave) Didinger of Big Prairie; 20 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother Richard Carr of Englewood, FL; sisters Linda Alexander of Fredericksburg and Jo Plant of Millersburg.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, brothers Robert, Art, Dave and Raymond Carr, sisters Betty Bill and Phyllis Fulton.
