Elizabeth (Burke) Jernigan

September 5, 1926 ~ January 20, 2018 (age 91)

Elizabeth Burke Jernigan, 91, of Wadsworth, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Burbank Parke Care Center.

Elizabeth was born September 5, 1926 in Nashville, TN to William and Minnie {Murphy} Burke.

She married Burtle Jernigan on October 12, 1947.  He passed away October 18, 2008. 

Elizabeth worked at the Peanut Shop of Nashville and then retired from Yellow Roadway after 31 years.  She was a faithful member of Ambassador Baptist Church in Wadsworth. Elizabeth enjoyed camping, reading and gardening.  She loved to spend time with all of her grandchildren.

Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her daughter Christina (Larry) McMahan of Burnsville, NC; grandchildren Richard Dean Whitacre, Justin Kelly and Tori Whitacre; great-grandchildren Mikyla, Aleyna, Lance, and Drake Wilfred, and Kyle Whitacre; great great-granddaughter Isabella Dillinger.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, daughter Elizabeth Renéé Whitacre, brothers William, Alfred, and Kenneth Burke, and a sister Katherine Farmer.

Services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville with Pastor Michael Decker officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. A private burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.   Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
