Opal Jervis

September 4, 1925 ~ January 22, 2019 (age 93)
Opal Jervis, 93, of Rittman, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Altercare of Wadsworth Center surrounded by her loving family.

Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Opal was born September 4, 1925 in Wayne, West Virginia to Jink and Flaura {Watts} Fortner.

Before retiring from Crown Steel Industries after nine years, she was a housekeeper in California and was known for her hospitality and recurring customers. Opal was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Rittman. She enjoyed quilting and word searches later in life. Opal most loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her new great great-granddaughter.

Opal will be deeply missed by children Charles Robert (Patricia) Fortner of Kettering, Evelyn Bealer of Norton, Thomas (Loretta) Jervis of Rittman; grandchildren Angela R. (Keith) Huntsman, Charles Robert “Robby” Fortner Jr., Joshua L. (Kim) Poehls; great-grandchildren Hannah M. Young, Hayley G. and Kristen S. Griffin; step great-grandchildren Joseph Huntsman and Lillie Wodek; great great-granddaughter Aiyanna M. Young.

Opal was preceded in death by her son-in-law Ronald Bealer, friend Homer Jervis, brothers Ervin, Virgil, Leslie, and Ernest Fortner, sisters Sarah Ann Mathis, Mary Ellen Baxter, and Ruby Donaho.
