A. Ronald Schafer

A. Ronald Schafer, 94, of Wooster, passed away July 8, 2026. Ron was born February 9, 1932 in Wooster to Albert and Belle {Girard} Schafer.

Following his High School graduation in 1951 he enlisted with the United States Army and Served in combat during the Korean War from January 1952 to December 1953. He married Ellyn Griffin on November 16, 1963. She passed away in July of 2010.

Ron worked for Akron Brass in his early years but retired from the Daily record after 28 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church as well as the American Legion Post 68.

Ron will be deeply missed by his daughter Lynne (Terrie) Norwood of Wooster, Ohio; grandchildren Walter Norwood and Ashley Ewing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Corrine Elliot (Dwight), Regina Knight (Robert Drouhard), Joyce Chenevey (Mel), Joanie Schafer, Jacqueline Docherty and Elaine Forrer.

Visitation will be held July 16th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wooster. A Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with Father David Chojnacki officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
