Amanda Lea VonKennell, 69, of Marietta, died February 11, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Amanda was born September 16, 1956 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Rolan and Ruth {Dunfee} Lemley.
She was a 1974 graduate of Parkersburg High School. Following high school, she attended Glenville State College where she earned her Bachelors of Education.
She married Mark VonKennell on April 3, 1982.
Amanda taught for the Fort Frye Local School District for 35 years, finishing at Lowell Elementary. She was a member of Valley View Baptist. Amanda had a lifelong love of music; she sang in the church choir at Vienna Baptist as a child, in the Parkersburg A Capella Choir in high school, and in the Marietta College Oratorio Chorus performance of Messiah for over 20 years. She was a member of Outdoor Challenge. She was an officer of the Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club. She worked out regularly at Allison Burner’s gym. In 2024 she completed the Ohio to Erie Trail, cycling from Cincinnati to Cleveland.
Amanda will be deeply missed by her husband of 44 years Mark VonKennell; their son Thomas (Celia Grundman) VonKennell; sisters Ardith (Warren) Rader and Anita (George) Tilton.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Sunday, February 15th from 2 to 4 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Inurnment will be private at East Lawn Memorial Park. Online tributes may be offered at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross.
