Annabelle (Wellman) Thompson of Sharon Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026.

Born January 14, 1936, in Fort Gay, West Virginia, Annabelle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Often called ‘Belle’, she was truly beautiful both inside and out.

Annabelle graduated Fort Gay High in 1953 and married her husband Ralph on May 28, 1955. They moved to Sharon Township in 1965 where they raised their two children.

Annabelle was devoted to her family and friends. She was the family hub, keeping everyone informed of other family happenings through long phone calls, often times using both her cell and home phones to keep in touch with loved ones. She knew everyone’s birthday and would call and sing the entire happy birthday song before even saying hello, and if you didn’t answer she sang to your voicemail.

Everyone was welcome at her kitchen counter, and if you found yourself there you would be treated to soup beans, cobbler, or her famous pancakes. There was not a person she did not invite in, lend an ear to, and then talk that ear off over a plate (or two) of food. Your stomach and your heart left her house full, she made sure of that.

Annabelle was a caretaker at heart. Raising her children, babysitting her granddaughter, caring for her husband, and helping friends and family whenever they needed it. She was often employed by friends to help care for elderly parents in their home, and even took in a dear family friend to care for him in her own home when his health began failing. Her heart was full and she shared that with anyone she could.

Annabelle enjoyed music and you could often find her at a bluegrass show or hear country radio in her kitchen while she cooked.

Annabelle is survived by her children, Ed (Anita) and Robin, granddaughter Whitney (Kevin), great granddaughter Emily, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph; her siblings, Charles (Garnet) Wellman, Frank (Jo) Wellman, Robert (Oma) Wellman, Tom (Lorrie) Wellman, and Mary (Boyd) Selbee; and her dear friend Bob Davis.
