Arleigh Lester Cooper Jr, 93, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital, in Ashland.
Arleigh was born October 27, 1932, in Crawford Corners, Ohio to Arleigh Lester Cooper Sr. and Mabel Belle {Weltmer}.
Arleigh served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He married Lorretta Mae Lewis on July 17, 1955 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Arleigh attended Ashland Christian Church and had been an elder at Clear Creek Church of Christ in Ashland. He was a creative handyman; he worked in management in many fields including printing, insurance, and manufacturing. Arleigh owned his own body shop, Dr. Alco Auto Body, then finished his career at PGI Golf in Loudonville.
Arleigh will be deeply missed by his wife; children Timothy (Diane) Cooper of Ashland, Bryan (Brenda) Cooper of Delaware; grandchildren Kassandra (Troy) Sweeney, Whitney (Travis) Emery, Trenton (Amanda) Cooper, Spencer (Adrian) Cooper, Brianna (Tanner) Cooper-Risser, Brandon (Kristen) Cooper, Bridget Cooper (Nate Wichterman); 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); sister Beverly Berry of West Salem.
Arleigh was preceded in death by his parents; son Terry L. Cooper; brothers Kenneth Cooper and Raymond Cooper; sisters Esther McCormic and Betty Anderson.
Friends may visit Wednesday, November 19th from 1 to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Services will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m with his grandson-in-law Tanner Cooper-Risser officiating. Entombment will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
