Arthur "Butch" J Grashel Sr

Arthur “Art” Joseph Grashel, 80, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away April 4, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital, in Mt Vernon.

Art was born December 28, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio to Arthur and Ester {Carish} Grashel.

He married Mary Louise Swick on December 24 1991. 

Art worked as printing press operator for South Press for many years.  He worked as a union member at Kelsey Hayes, retiring after many years there. He had been a member of the First Church of God, where he enjoyed driving the church bus.  Art was a lifetime Gold Wing Chapter Y member and enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He rebuilt a 57 Chevy and enjoyed restoring and repairing many other cars.  He could build or rebuild anything out of wood, including grandfather clocks and toy boxes for his grandchildren.  He loved driving to Florida to visit his family and fishing while he was there.  He will be missed by his dog, Tasha.  He was a good storyteller and enjoyed talking about past times and of his daughter Diona.  He enjoyed watching his granddaughter playing softball.  He was an amazing dad and Papaw.

Art will be deeply missed by his wife, who felt so fortunate to have him in her life; children Misty (Ryan) Bennett, Angel (Chris) Allen, Joey (Teresa) Grashel;  grandchildren Kayla, Ethan, Mason, Rachel, Austin, Katie, Christa, Samuel, Micah and Nicholas; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family; a sister Linda (Mark) Zulovitz.

Art was preceded in death by his loving parents, a daughter Diona Grashel, sister Sandy Grashel, and a nephew Ryan Vanderson.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2:00 at Mt Vernon Memorial Gardens with Pastor Charles Dewayne Cochran, Jr officiating.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.   Memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray expenses.
