Carlton King "CK" Steiner

Carlton King “CK” Steiner, 85, of Smithville, OH died peacefully Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

Carlton was born July 1, 1938, in Wadsworth to Myron and Ruth (King) Steiner.

Carlton was a talented football player, playing for Norwayne through high school. He then played football at Bluffton College, where he graduated with a degree in agriculture business.

In 1961, he married Harlene Hicks. She survives.

Carlton worked as head salesman at Lowe and Young beginning in 1962. In 1987, Carlton became the President and CEO. He retired in 2011 after serving nearly 50 years. He believed in doing business and making deals on a handshake. Every Christmas, he would deliver meat and cheese gifts to his customers. Carlton was a long-time member of Grace Church in Wooster, OH. From his early years, Carlton had a deep love for agriculture and operated Steinhurst Farms, Inc with his brothers, John and David, his son and nephews until his retirement from the farm. He loved to travel the world for business as well as for pleasure. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

Carlton will be deeply missed by his wife, Harlene; son Jason (Tamara Haught) Steiner of Wooster; grandson Philip Lehmann of Boston; brother John (Patti) Steiner of Creston; son-in-law Joseph (Donna) Lehmann of Wolfeboro, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karyn Steiner Lehmann, brother David Steiner, and sister Linda Steiner Dotson.

Friends may call Wednesday, December 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, December 28 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Grace Church, Wooster. Services will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church (and be livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Carlton-Steiner) with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating.
