Charles Allen West

Charles Allen West, Age 85, passed away from Alzheimer’s surrounded by his loving family on May 3, 2026, at the Laurels in Mount Vernon, OH. He was born in Columbus, OH on November 16, 1940, to the late Charles and Jeanne (Miller) West. Charles attended West High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army. He and his two sons owned and operated West Brothers Shell service station in Worthington, Ohio. He retired from there in 2001. Charles, affectionately known as Allen to his immediate family, was a kind and caring man who loved his family and his cat, Luke. As a younger man he was involved in horse racing with his brother John. He loved to fish and play pool. Later in his life he became an avid reader and he always had a book in his hand. He was generous, donating to many organizations including the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Mount Vernon, OH Moose Lodge for many years. He will be deeply missed! Charles is survived by his wife and caregiver Trisha Harding; children John A. (Suzy) West, Greg (Dee) West; step-children Charity Raimond, Charma (Jeff) Patterson, Jason Humes; siblings, Betty (Duane) Swetland and Jim (Donna) West; granddaughter Kaylee West and his step-grandchildren Tiff, Jake, Matt, Tyler and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother John D. West.

The family wants to thank Reserve Care Hospice who cared for Charles so well, especially Hannah, Moriah, Brittney, Terry, and Reggie. The family appreciated the excellent care from The Laurels and special thanks goes to the following staff: Kristina, Destiny, Anna and Ashley.
