Clayton “Jim” Eugene Carpenter

Clayton “Jim” Eugene Carpenter, 90, of Apple Creek, passed away August 2, 2026.

Jim was born May 23, 1936 in Caldwell, Ohio to John Edwin and Leona Elizabeth {Claus} Carpenter.

Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958.

Jim worked for AM in Holmesville and then worked for ABC Plastic in Lodi, Ohio where he retired in 1998. Jim loved reading the newspaper.

Jim will be deeply missed by his companion Diana Campbell; children Krista Musser (Dana Deeds) and Scott (Collin) Carpenter; grandchildren Donald (Kristen) Musser, Hunter Carpenter (Connor Borden), McKenzie Carpenter (Aengus Hafford); and brother Clifford (Connie) Carpenter.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul Carpenter and Wilbert Carpenter, and sister Laura Bertschy.

Burial and a graveside service will be held Monday August 24 at 11:15 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held.
