Clifton Hollifield

Clifton Earl Hollifield, 87, of Marion, died Sunday, March 14 2021 at his home.

Clifton was born November 7, 1933 in Mount Vernon to Arnold and Devada {Bird} Hollifield.

He married Ethel Cook in the 1950s, she passed away in 2009. He later married Marcel “Kay” Lane. She passed away in 2012.

Clifton was gifted in math and owned a tire shop in Mount Gilead.  Clifton was a Christian but loved playing poker.  He also loved fishing, camping, and just being silly.

Clifton will be deeply missed by his children Doug (Phyllis) Hollifield, Debbie (Lynn) Askins, Cathy Hawkins, and Zonie Compton; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister Helen Connell; and longtime companion Betty Clay.

Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his children Steve Hollifield, Donna Sherman, and Sidney “Gary” Lane.
