Curtis D. Deibel, 89, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Wickshire Steele Creek Assisted Living, in Charlotte, NC.
Curtis was born December 21, 1933, in Coshocton, Ohio to Charles and Mary Joyce {Garber} Deibel. He had an associate degree in business management from the Wooster Business College. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Japan.
He married Marilyn Scarr on June 3, 1956. She died July 30, 2018. He was a self-employed carpenter for more than 50 years. He was active in the community with several organizations including the Smithville Ruritan Club, Green Local School Board, Smithville Historical Society, and the Smithville Grange.
Curtis will be deeply missed by his daughters Catherine Noah (Don), of Beavercreek, OH, Lavonne Miller (Lee) of Taylors, SC and Suzanne Henkels (John) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his great loves, his grandchildren: Tony Baker (Leah) of Winchester, VA, Sarah Sector (Chris) of Bluffton, SC, Nick Miller (Stephanie) of Alpharetta, GA, Natalie Altizer (Caroline) of Akron, OH, Zach Henkels of Charlotte, NC and Jacob Henkels of Queens, NY, and seven great-grandchildren Mason and Wesley Sector, Abigail, Nathaniel, and Tabitha Miller, and Jack and Isla Baker.
Curtis was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, grandson Samuel Henkels, and brothers Dwight, Carter, and Roger.
