August 4, 1939 — May 27, 2024

Wooster

Dallas Leonard Purdum, Jr., 84, of Wooster passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home
on May 27, 2024. He was born August 4,1939, the son of Dallas Sr. and Frances Purdum, and
married Jeanne (Smith) Purdum on November 17, 1968. She survives.
Dallas was a 1957 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. He served in the Army
National Guard. His entire employment career was numerous positions in sales and as his
children would always say, “He could sell ice to the eskimos”. He retired from Aaron Sales and
Leasing in 2016 and immediately found his second love in truck driving and was employed part-
time at D. & S. Distribution Services for 7 years and retired from there in January 2024.
Dallas’ passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He eagerly
awaited calls from his kids asking for help on home improvement projects, all of which were
always done on time, but never under budget! Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children
Timothy Purdum and Wendy Strickling of Jeromesville, Jennifer Purdum and Andrew Au of
Cincinnati; and Ryan and Danielle Purdum of Wooster; four grandchildren, Patrick Miller, Casey
Jo Shaffer, Marcus Purdum, and Dian Purdum, as well as one great-granddaughter anticipated
in August. He has sisters Janice (and Gene) Feller of Massillon, June (and Gary) Baxter of
Murrells Inlet, SC. and brother, David (and Suellen) Purdum of Friendswood, TX. He has
sisters-in-laws , Lynda Abrams and Kenny Croft of Newland, N.C. and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Sr and Frances Purdum. Services will be private. Online condolences may be made through Roberts Funeral Homes website. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the local chapter of the Salvation Army, and or to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
