David Holdren

December 31, 1969 — November 4, 2021

David W. Holdren, 77, of Apple Creek, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at home surrounded by family following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
He was born February 19, 1944, in Union Furnace, Ohio, the youngest son of the late John and Gladys (Hall) Holdren.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Carole Ann Lonier, whom he married May 22, 1979, brothers: Bob, Charlie, Jim, John, Dale and Willard, sisters: Mary, Dorothy, Pauline and Gail and son-in-law Keith Palmer.
David served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1965 and worked the majority of his life as a truck driver, most recently with Berner Trucking Inc.  In 2014, he obtained his Merchant Mariner’s license and became Captain Dave for Dollar Down Fishing Charters in Vermillion, OH.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.
David is survived by his children Deborah Blosser of Nelsonville, OH, Sandra Palmer of Nelsonville, OH and David (Lynn) Holdren, Jr. of Charleston, WV; step-children: Sue (Arnold) Neal of Greensboro, NC, Dick (Jo) Stuckey of Thomasville, NC, Terri (David) Zook of Orrville, OH, Lori Marthey of Wooster, OH, Chris Stuckey of Orrville, OH, Barb (Mark) Gryniewski of Orrville, OH, Mary Olp of Wadsworth, OH, John Stuckey of Barberton, OH and Kathy (John) Barnes of Orrville, OH; brother Joe Holdren; sister Phyllis (Sue) Smith, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and close friends Vernon Hochstetler, Rita Metzger, Dick Saurer, Maggie Deringer, Reuben Bowman, Jerry Cottrell, Bobby & Vicki Schmidt and Tina Burris.
In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.  A celebration of David’s life will be held with family and close friends.  Roberts Funeral Home Wooster is handling arrangements.  Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com and memorial contributions to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH  44691.
