Dell Pfalzgraf, 93, of Wooster, passed away July 8, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.
Dell was born December 12, 1932, in Rosedale, West Virginia to the late George Everett and Dallie Elizabeth (Moyers) Hawkins. She graduated from Weston High School in 1951.
She married John “Bill” William Pfalzgraf on February 7, 1953; he passed away in 1984.
Having been her brother Earl Hawkins’ first employee, she worked at Hawkins Market for many years. Dell retired from Wooster Brush Company after 25 years. She was a member of West Hill Baptist Church for over 30 years and later attended Church of the Savior with her companion Gerald Woods; they shared 26 happy years together. Dell loved gardening, canning everything she grew, playing Rummy, and visiting friends in nursing homes. She faithfully read her Bible every day. Dell was a constant presence in her church; she was there every time the doors were open. She attended many Bible studies and served the Lord faithfully.
Dell will be deeply missed by her children Diane (Steve) Hathaway and Patty (Steve) Strouse; grandson Matthew Maki; great-grandchildren Ali (Josiah) Shalala, Aaron (Shayla), Matthew (LaCrisha), Daniel (Jasmine), Amber (fiancé Jonny Ramos), Alyssa, Jordan, and David Maki; great-great grandchildren Breyson, Asher, Brielle, Ariella Shalala, Jensen, Amitey Maki, and Caden Green.
Dell was preceded in death by her husband Bill, companion Gerald Woods, brothers Earl Hawkins, Guy Hawkins, Ray Hawkins, Glen Hawkins, and Clen Hawkins; and sisters Mary Lee Hawkins, May Wimer, and Gay Moutoux.
Friends may call Thursday, July 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wooster Christian School at 1071 Dover Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
