Rev. Elizabeth “Betty” Ellen Copus

Rev. Elizabeth “Betty” Ellen Copus, 81, of Wooster, passed away July 12, 2026.

Betty was born January 23, 1945 in Wooster to Samuel Dewey and Bertha Mae {Bruce} McAfee.

She married John William Copus Jr. on August 8, 1965, they were married 60 years.

Betty worked for Wooster Glass, and after that worked with her Husband John at Sta-Co Manufacturing Inc. Co-pastoring with her husband, they started Victory Chapel Foursquare Church in Creston for 10 years and then became pastors of Wooster Foursquare for 15 years, retiring in 2012.

Betty’s hobbies included traveling with her family and friends, attending auctions, arts and crafts, hosting yard sales, gardening, birdwatching, and she was the caretaker of a feral cat colony (with the occasional racoon and opossum). She was a member of the Jefferson Hotties.

Betty will be deeply missed by her children Victoria Copus of Akron, Kathleen (Rodney) Austin of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Joshua (Elaine) Copus of West Salem; grandchildren Jasmine, Titus, and Maia; brother Robert “Bob” (Louise) McAfee; sister Bessie Anne Wade; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John W Copus Jr., her parents, brothers Richard Merle McAfee and Samuel Irvin McAfee, and sister Phyllis (David) Jean Bellamy.

Friends may visit Saturday, July 18 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Wooster Foursquare Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Thomas Hooks officiating.
