Elizabeth Leatherman

Elizabeth Lettie Leatherman, 106, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at West View Healthy Living.

Elizabeth was born February 26, 1920, in Wooster to John and Mabel {Drabenstott} O’Hail.

She married Fred Leatherman on August 27, 1943; he passed in 1996.

Elizabeth was employed over the years at Freedlander’s, International Paper, and in the Dietary Department at Wooster Community Hospital. She was active in her community and volunteered her time in many ways, including as a member of the Valley College Grange, where she helped prepare and serve meals at the Wayne County Fair Grange Dining Hall. Elizabeth also organized meals for Habitat for Humanity. She generously volunteered at West View Manor, where she especially enjoyed sewing in the activities room. She was a member of Christ Church of the Brethren and Concordia Lutheran Church before becoming a member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoyed staying involved in church, volunteering, sewing, and serving others.

Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her children Phyllis Jones (Charles Davis), Irene Hunt, and Mary Leatherman; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Janet Davis; brothers Joseph, Walter, Edwin O’Hail; sister Marie Johnson; and son-in-law Ronald Hunt.

The memorial service will be Tuesday, June 2 at 3 p.m. at West View Healthy Living with Pastor Kirk Fairhurst officiating. Private burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
