Ellis Jay Zimmerly

Ellis J. Zimmerly, 82, of Wooster, died Friday, May 19, 2023 at West View Healthy Living, in Wooster.

Ellis was born February 11, 1941 in Wooster, Ohio to John and Helen {Weuthrick} Zimmerly.

He graduated from Dalton High School. Ellis was proud to serve his country in the US Army doing 2 active tours in the Vietnam Conflict.

He worked for the United Telephone Company, now Sprint, from 1965 until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Ebenezer Lodge #33). He spent his time hiking, enjoying the outdoors and visiting historical sites.

Ellis will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews.

Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Dennis, Amos, Paul, and Alvin Zimmerly and 4 sisters Verna (Nan) Richwine, Orpha (Jean) Rowland, Clara (Jan) Henry and Nora Leach.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 24^th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Graveside services and burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Daron Butler officiating, where military rites will be held.
