Elsie Marie Ross

Elsie Marie Ross, 98, of Smithville, passed away September 4, 2026 at Wooster Community Hospital.

She was born December 6, 1927 in Pleasantville, Ohio to Almond and Nancy {James} Waugh.

Elsie married Harold Ross on July 23, 1949. Herald preceded her in death on May 18, 1998.

Not only did she take care of her family she made a career out of taking care of others. She worked for ACDC, Yoder’s Greenhouse, High Hope Homes, Westview Manor, Smithville Western Reserve, Diebold, Veterans Home, and Kaffee House. She attended Apostolic Pentecostal Church and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, checkers, crocheting, coloring, listening to bluegrass music, working in her flower garden, and spending time with little children.

Elsie will be deeply missed by her children Karen (Bill) Hall, Nancy (James dec.) Kline, Donnie (Sherry) Ross, Brenda (Richard) Warfel, Phillip Ross; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews; as well as special friends Kelly, Jen, Brandi, Nancy and her “twin” Elsie .

She was preceded in death by her sons Frank and Harold Jr. (Karen) Ross; granddaughter Alyssa; great-grandchildren Destiny, Faith and Brady; siblings Linda Cottrell, Anna Cottrell, Catherine Ross, Ellen Cottrell and Emmanuel Waugh.
