Ernestine "Ernie" Sue Vance

Ernestine “Ernie” Sue Vance, 83, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026, at her home with her children, in Mount Vernon.  Ernestine was born June 8, 1943, in Mount Vernon, OH to Ike and Edith P. {Hall} Huffman.

Ernie worked for the Career Center as a custodian until she retired about 2004. She was well loved by the staff and students and some of the students still ask about her. She loved to clean and had the cleanest house you ever saw. Back years ago, she loved to go dancing and to dinner with her life partner Kenneth Kerr. She loved gardening vegetables and flowers. She also loved her pets, especially Ginger then Angel. She hosted family holidays in her home most years when handmade pies, salads and such filled the family!

Ernestine will be deeply missed by her children Sherri (Rick) Potes, Kathy Masten, Robert Vance; grandchildren Jarrad, Sean and Nathaniel; great-grandchildren Alix, Emily, Maria and Zayne.  Ernie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul, Donald, and Charles Huffman and her sister Ellen Ramsey.

Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
