Freeman L. Geiser, age 69, of Orrville, passed away at his home on January 26, 2026.
He was born December 24, 1956 on the family farm in Orrville to Harvey and Esther (Steiner) Geiser. Freeman was the tenth of fourteen children in his family. On November 30, 1985, he married Jennie McElroy.
Freeman worked for Kidron Electric, Steiner Turf, Ventrac, and Doosan throughout his career. He enjoyed designing, sales, and service work and was especially proud of his time with Steiner Turf. He had a lifelong passion for tractors and loved participating in tractor pulling events, particularly the Bowling Green tractor pulls, which he attended annually. Freeman also helped start the Riceland Pulling Club with his brothers and close friend Larry, and he took great pride in pulling his own garden tractor. He was also a faithful Cleveland Browns fan and always held out hope for the team.
Above all, Freeman’s greatest joy was his grandchildren. During the week he traveled for work, but on weekends he followed a strict itinerary of games, events, and activities so he could support them. He loved giving tractor and golf cart rides and teaching them new things. Freeman enjoyed helping Jennie babysit and spoil all of the grandchildren.
Freeman was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church and loved singing gospel hymns.
Freeman will be deeply missed by his children, Don Schaefer of West Salem, Kristen (Jeff) Campbell of Ashland, and Jodi (Tom) Holmes of Rittman; grandchildren, Mathew (Kelsey) Schaefer, Kurtis (Stephanie) Schaefer, Kile (Breanna) Schaefer, Bethanie (Jacob) Skelly, Joshua Rohr (Lisa Starling), Brittainee Smith, Chelsie (Chase) Hess, Sage Porter, Broderick (Amy) Holmes, and Bryce Holmes; great-grandchildren, Piper, Maisie, Lee, Haven, Jhett, Axel, Lurayah, Abby, William, Bennett and Rowan and a little girl, Hadley, on the way; brothers, Vernon Geiser of Wooster, Ron (Janice) Geiser of Dalton, Russel Geiser, Ellis Geiser, and Delvin (Cindy) Geiser, all of Orrville; sisters, Marcella (Ed) Loker of Dalton, Ruth (Galen) Hershberger of Fredericksburg, Ida Marie (Tom) Yoder of Donnellson, Iowa, and Pauline (Gary) Arnold of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
