Gail Irene Amstutz, beloved wife and mother, age 74, died peacefully at her home at Brookdale Senior Living in Wooster on Sunday, December 7, 2025, with her loving husband and family by her side after fighting a valiant, year-long battle against brain cancer.
Born on October 11, 1951, in Wooster, Ohio to William (Bill) and Ethel Imhoff Morris, Gail was raised on the family dairy farm in Springville, Ohio. She graduated from Triway High School in 1970.
Gail met her future husband, Gary Amstutz, when they both worked at Wooster Egg Company. They were married on January 14, 1972, and were married for 53 years. Gary introduced Gail to motorcycles, and they had many wonderful times driving the country roads on their Harleys. Over the years, Gail worked at JC Penny’s and Newberry’s in Wooster.
Gail had a life-long passion and love for animals, gardening and crocheting. Gail and Gary started a business called Justcrakers where they bred and showed miniature horses for many years. They won numerous awards and ribbons showing the horses at national horse shows and the Wayne County Fair.
Gail grew many flowers and was very good at creating floral arrangements. She won several awards for them at the County Fair. She worked at Twinsberry Tree Farm in Shreve, Ohio, for several years making beautiful Christmas wreaths and arrangements.
When Gail and Gary retired, they moved to Waynesboro, Tennessee and lived there for ten years before moving back to Ohio. Gail donated many of the floral arrangements and afghans that she made to the Topsy Church of Christ in Tennessee. Gail was a generous person and always offered a helping hand to others. She had a positive outlook on life and always had a smile and laughter for any situation.
Gail is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Amstutz, of Wooster, daughter Holly Amstutz and son Steven (Barbara) Amstutz, both of Orrville; uncle Don Imhoff of Louisiana, aunt Lou Ella Imhoff of West Salem, brother-in-law Ed Amstutz of Wooster, and nephew Neil Amstutz of Arizona. She is also survived by two special, life-long friends, Chris and Scott Pastolic, sister-in-law Vicki Morris, and several cousins, nephews and great-nieces and nephews from the Morris and Imhoff families.
Her parents, daughter Emily Amstutz, grandson Donnell Chappell, and brother Doyle Morris preceded her in death.

Friends and family are all invited to a lunch reception immediately after the cemetery services at the Best Western Plus Hotel, 243 E. Liberty Street, Wooster, Ohio.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Brookdale Senior Living Center and to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare for all the love, care, and support that was given to Gail and her family.
