Gary Frederick Bumgardner

Gary Frederick Bumgardner, 74, of Wooster, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Autumnwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rittman.

Gary was born on March 28, 1952, in Rittman to Charles and Joan {Shanower} Bumgardner.

Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served his country with honor and dedication.

He married Linda Schantz on September 20, 2001; she survives.

He retired from his service in the Air Force after 20 years. Most of his time in the service he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas; he served two overseas tours. He attended Wooster United Methodist Church. He loved to shoot, ride his Goldwing Motorcycles, and drink his coffee. Gary enjoyed nature and traveling with his wife.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife Linda and her children Ryan Weaver of Wooster, Neal Weaver of North Conway, NH, Misty Hostetler of Wooster; and her grandchildren Jillian and Cecilia Hostetler; brothers Terry (Kathy) Bumgardner, Rick Bumgardner, and Greg (Brynne) Bumgardner; and sister Cindy (Mike) Ringgenberg; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kim Bumgardner.

Friends may visit Thursday, May 21 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Gary-Bumgardner) with Pastor David Rittgers officiating.
