Gary E. Sloan, 72, of Shreve, died Friday, September 1, 2023 at Smithville Western Care Center, in Wooster.

Gary was born December 14, 1950 in Ashland to Elmer and Dona {Morman} Sloan.

Gary proudly served with the United States Marines.

He married Karen Shriver on July 18, 1970. She survives.  

He worked as a machinist at Rexroth before retiring in 2003. He was a member of Mohican Church of The Brethren.  He was the founding commandant of the Marine Corp League and Toys for Tots of Wayne County from 2009 to 2015. Gary was a 4H advisor and a member of the Devil Dogs of Medina. He loved to hunt and riding his motor cycle.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife; sons Tom (Dawn) Sloan and Steve Sloan; grandchildren Spencer and Hunter; great-grandchildren Arwin and Silas; sister Chris (Jack) Patterson

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.

Graveside services will be Saturday September 23 at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.
