H. Gene Hanna, 93, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home, in Wooster.
Gene was born December 8, 1931, in Burbank, Ohio to Harry and Madge {Bowman} Hanna.
He married Phyllis A. Boss on July 14, 1954; she passed in 2022.
Gene served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a volunteer firefighter in Burbank. Gene went to carpentry school out of high school and did carpentry throughout his life time; he retired from the Timken Co of Wooster. Gene was a “Mr. Fix It”, he did everything. He attended Wooster Grace Church. Gene was a train enthusiast; he loved going to train shows when he was younger. He was meticulous in everything he did.
Gene will be deeply missed by his children Debra (Roger) Stanford of Canton and Sandra (Douglas) Burch of Wooster; grandchildren Amanda (Edward) Hyde of Smithville, Jamin (Danielle) Sprowl of Wooster, Megan (Jereme) Proudman of Wooster, and Kaitlin (Eric) Schneider of Ravenna; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Daniel Hanna of Creston; and his cat Mr. Whiskers also known as “Cat”.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son Brian Hanna, brother Charles Hanna, sisters Sue Hanna and Catherine (Hanna) Flynt.
Friends may call Monday, October 27th from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Gene-Hanna) with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating.
