Geoffrey Sheldon Smith

Geoffrey Sheldon Smith, 52, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, September 19, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital from a long battle with cancer.

Geoffrey was born on April 27, 1974 in Marietta, Ohio to John Sheldon and Jane Anne Wenzel Smith.

Geoffrey was a 1992 graduate of Marietta Senior High School and a 1996 graduate of Marietta College, where he majored in History & Philosophy and attended Ohio University for his Masters in History. At the time of his passing, he was living at his parents home.

He is survived by his parents, Sister Stefanie Smith (Ty), nephews Celan O'Dell, Demetrie, and Elias Smith, nieces Arianna and Olivia Smith, (Aunt) Shelley & Geoffrey Brunton, (Uncles) Roy (Buzz) Wenzel (Ginny), Marty Wenzel (Marilyn), Tom Wenzel (Myrna), Kyle Wenzel (all in Marietta, OH), (Great Aunt) Nancy Wenzel (Crystal Lake, IL).

He was proceeded in death by his brother, Xan Michael Smith.
