Helen Juanita Viers

Helen Juanita Viers, 98, of Ormond by the Sea, FL, died November 27, 2024, at Advent Health, in Daytona Beach.

Helen was born April 11, 1926, in Smith Ridge, VA to George and Madie {Grizzle} Smith. She graduated from Haysi high school in Haysi, VA. Helen married Orbie Viers on April 25, 1945. 

Helen worked as a Cashier for the last 30 years. She was of Baptist faith but did not attend on a regular basis. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing hand and foot, and canasta and was well known for making her peanut butter pies, mountain dew and rum cake and salmon patties. Helen was glamorous and always looked beautiful. Above all, family was truly the most important thing to her, and she was loved dearly.

Helen will be deeply missed by her children Don Viers, Lisa (Bill) Dietz; daughter-in-law Cathy Viers; grandchildren Tecka (Viers) Sanders, Heidi Viers, Lisa Ann Viers, Noah Markel, Danielle (Dietz) Bartlett, Corey Dietz; great-grandchildren David Sanders, Brianne Sanders, Bruce Viers, Matt Swiger, Haidee Bartlett, Alex Bartlett, Vera Dietz, Nora Markel, Aiden Markel, Amelia Markel; great-great grandchild Sylvie Sanders; and a sister Iris Britten.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Orbie Viers; son Larry B. Viers; brothers J.D. Smith and Carl Smith; sisters Evon Andrews and Opal Ward.

Friends may visit Thursday December 5, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. (and livestreamed below) with Rev. Dr. Paul E. Tracy, Sr, officiating. A dinner will follow at Lighthouse Pentecostal Assembly, 323 Steele Ave. in Ashland, Ohio. Entombment will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
