James H. Robinett, 92, of Rittman, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Aultman Orrville Hospital.
Military rites and a committal service will take place Friday at 3pm at Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, where friends may call from 2 to 3pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Stephen P. Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. James was born June 12, 1929, in Ft. Gay, WV to Clyde “C.C.” and Olive {Artrip} Robinett. James married Margaret E. Ball on May 29, 1952. She died July 29, 2015 after 63 years of marriage.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan as a military police dog trainer.
Following his service to our country, he worked in the transportation industry as a mechanic, truck driver and journeyman diesel mechanic. He designed many of his own tools which were copied and used in the industry nationwide. He retired from Roadway Express Inc. in 1989.
More important to him than his successful career was his personal faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his savior. James dedicated his life to telling others how they too could know for certain their future in Heaven was secure. He discipled many through Balanced Evangelism. James was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was an accomplished carpenter, plumber, electrician, welder, farmer, dog trainer, and checker player. James was also a known prankster and loved a good joke. Second only to his love for his Lord was his love for his family.
James will be deeply missed by his children Wilma (Roger) Barnhart of Rittman, Norman (Cristie) Robinett of Smithville, Dan (Cindy) Robinett of Rawson, OH, Glen (Traci) Robinett of Kentwood, MI; grandchildren Brian (Mary) Warner, Stephanie (Peter) Marcinak, Scott Warner, Joshua (Ashley) Robinett, Joe Robinett, Ashley (Tom) Gross, Kellie (Wil) Torres, Karis Robinett, and Levi (Lydia) Robinett; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister Dorcas Misere of Rittman, many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, sons James Allen Robinett and Raymond Robinett, grandson Cody Robinett, brother Lawrence Robinett and sister Thelma Kollert.
