James Wall

April 2, 1949 — July 31, 2022

Wooster

James DeForest Wall, 73, of Wooster OH, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness.

Jim was born April 2, 1949, in Wooster, to Ira Wall and Florence (Matty) Wall.  Jim graduated from Smithville High School and attended a bible college for several years, where he was drawn to missionary work, and later Wooster Business College.  He was an Eagle Scout and an excellent trumpet player, as well as playing the piano and electric guitar.  He had ambitions, and was selected, to join one of the U.S. Military Marching Bands until a trick knee derailed those plans. He married Alison McDougal (the mother of his children) on November 23, 1972.  Following her death, he married Carole (Moore) Hunt on November 22, 1982.  Jim resided all of his life in the Wooster vicinity, where he held various jobs and demonstrated his compassion for his fellow man by always lending a helping hand to anyone less fortunate, whenever he could, including driving hundreds of miles to get a stranded motorist home or putting someone with car trouble up for a night.

Jim is survived by his, biological daughter Victoria (Vikki) Gehring (Andrew Hout, fiancé) and her children Kendra, Sadie, and Cayleb; several step-children; his siblings Linda (Gordon) Wall-Bigger, Susan (David) Wall-Cartwright; and long-time good friend and house-mate Karen Wiggins-Nichols.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alison and their baby John Michael; wife Carole; and sibling Donald (Don) Smedley.

In lieu of a memorial service, due to COVID, other health and travel issues, the family is suggesting that you pause and take a moment, as you read this message, to celebrate Jim’s life.  Burial will be private at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.

Online tributes may be made in the guestbook below.   Memorial contributions may be made to the James Wall Memorial Fund, to help with burial expenses.

“Day is done, gone the sun….” rest in peace.

Farewell and God Bless you Jim.
