John Robert Mollohan, 56, set off on his next adventure on August 27, 2026.

John was loyal, kind, and a protector by nature, with a heart for service and a quiet strength that made others feel safe. Intensely patriotic, he was proud to have served his country in both the Army National Guard and on active duty with the United States Army. He remained a passionate supporter of fellow veterans and service members throughout his life. John continued serving his community through his work in technology support at Community Action Wayne/Medina from 2001 to 2026. His CVMA 12-5 family held a special place in his heart, and the friendships and community he found there meant a great deal to him.

John had a calm spirit and a gift for living in the moment and appreciating the beauty in life. He loved to laugh, travel, and experience the freedom of riding motorcycles. He felt at home in nature, especially in the mountains. John led quietly and helped others without looking for recognition or expecting anything in return.

Above everything else, John loved his family. He was an extraordinary and devoted father, immeasurably proud of his children: Jacob Mollohan and Marissa McClellan, Anthony and Rebecca Mollohan, and Kyley and Chase Findley. Whether his children came to him by birth or through marriage made no difference in the way John loved them. They were his family, completely.

In 2025, John moved from Smithville, Ohio, to San Antonio, Texas, to be near his precious grandchildren, Finn and Anya, and deeply cherished the joyful year he was able to spend close to them.

To his wife, Elise, John was everything: her partner, her person, the one who knew her best. His absence is immeasurable, but his love and protection will continue to surround her and the people he loved.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Cheryl and Bill Ralston, and his grandmother, Dorris Rice, who held a very special place in his heart.

If you knew John and would like to honor his memory, do something kind simply because it is the right thing to do. Help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need. Support veterans, serve your community, or find your own way to make someone’s life a little better. Do it quietly, without expecting recognition or anything in return. That is how John lived, and there could be no better way to honor him.

Friends may visit Wednesday, September 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. A service of remembrance and farewell will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
