Laura Jane Walters

Laura Jane Walters, 97, of Ashland, OH, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at Kingston of Ashland.

Laura was born on April 17, 1928, in Lawton, KY to John and Catherine {Clay} Humphrey. She married John Walters on December 21, 1952. He passed away on November 21, 2009.

Laura came to Mansfield from Olive Hill on a train and worked at Dominion Electric, where her future husband, John, was her boss. In 1960, they moved to a farm in Ashland where Laura was a homemaker. She greatly enjoyed gardening, bowling and flea marketing as well as playing the harmonica. Laura’s greatest joy was raising her four children Janis (Gary) Hunter of Greenwich; Joyce (Roger) McDaniel of Winchester, VA; Jerri (Terry) Landers of Harvest, AL and Jon (Jill Johnson) Walters of Ashland. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren Janette Verchot, Thomas (Katie) Landers, Christina (Jacob) Clemens, Steven Walters, Michael Walters and seven great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband, Laura was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

She loved the Lord and prayed for her family often. We all can be comforted knowing she is in heaven now with her Lord and Savior.

Friends may call Saturday, December 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, 1058 US 250 N Ashland, OH 44805. Services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Laura-Walters) with Chaplain Dave Matos and Chaplain Don Earlenbaugh officiating.
