Linda Jeannene Smith

Linda Jeannene Board Smith, 89, formerly of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Jeannene was born on May 5, 1936, in Palestine, West Virginia, along with her identical twin sister, Cinda Jeannette Board Crede. They were born to the late Robert Ernest and Elodene Board.

Jeannene was a high school cheerleader at Wirt County High School. She worked at Harts Department Store in Marietta, Ohio and Big Bear grocery store in South Parkersburg for many years. She was an avid reader and visited the Marietta and Williamstown libraries regularly. She was a member of the Marietta VFW Post 5108 where she enjoyed making many friends. She had a profound sense of humor which she never lost.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Elodene Board, her brother, James Board and her special friend, Eugene Hieatt.

She is survived by her twin sister, Jeannette Crede of Charleston, West Virginia, her son Lane Bryan Smith of Yuba City, California, and her identical twins Julie (John) Sheets of Pendleton, South Carolina and Janis (Don) Maxson of Berea, West Virginia, with whom she lived for the past several years. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Roberts Funeral Home - East Lawn Chapel, 27880 SR 7, Marietta, Ohio on Friday, September 26 from 10-11 am with services directly following the visitation and interment at East Lawn Memorial Park. Her son-in-law, Reverend Donald Maxson will be officiating.
