Marilyn Sue Phillips

Marilyn Sue Phillips, 78, of Zanesville, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Altercare of Zanesville.

Marilyn was born August 22, 1947, in Ashland, Ohio to Willard and Margaret {Stone} Leisure.

She married Averal G. Phillips on August 8, 2010; he passed in 2021.

Marilyn earned a doctorate in Ministry focusing on Evangelism. Marilyn was a member at the Church of God where she did mission work, helped the needy, and regularly visited the elderly and sick. She was very musically talented; she could play many instruments in which she was self-taught. Marilyn enjoyed making floral arrangements for herself and others. She was fascinated with River Boats and all things water related. Marilyn loved fishing. She loved Christmas movies, especially Home Alone.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children Dawn (Daniel) Studer of Zanesville, Ohio and Angie (Zach) Williams of Howard, Ohio; grandchildren Misty (Ben) Wright, Bailey Harris, Hunter Kiser, and Carter Williams; great-grandchildren Myah, Marissa, Maliyha, Serena, Lukas, Dominic, and Owen; brother Dennis (Dorothy) Leisure; sisters Norma Yancer and Phyllis Mekoleske; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Bradley Boyer, brothers Donald and Roger Leisure, and brothers-in-law Bob Yancer and Willie Mekoleske.

Friends may visit Tuesday, June 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Marilyn-Phillips) with Pastor David Stamper officiating.
