Marilyn Jean Tanner, age 96, of Wooster, Ohio passed away on November 14, 2024 at Danbury Senior Living in Wooster. She was born on November 26, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio the daughter of John Wilson and Rose Eva (Kraehenbuehl) Dick. She graduated from Hamilton High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Miami University. Marilyn had a long and successful career at Ford Motor Company, from where she retired. She married Alfred P. Tanner and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and James Carpenter; her niece, Jean Carpenter Efe and her dear friend and companion, Ed Koller. Surviving Marilyn are her two great nephews and their families, Jem and Hande Efe and children, Derin and Parla Jean, and Jon and Laura Efe and children, Lucas and Piper. She is also survived by Ed’s grandsons, Cody and Dylan Koller who called her “Miss Marilyn” and many other dear friends. Marilyn lived a life that beautifully intertwined service and social engagement, demonstrating her commitment to both her community and the individuals within it. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and volunteered at many of the community mission activities. There will be a memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life at St. James Episcopal Church, 201 N. Market Street, Wooster, Ohio on January 18, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Meghan Carlson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the mission work at St. James Episcopal Church.
