Mary Ellen Cook

Mary Ellen Cook, 84, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

Mary was born July 31, 1942, in Gassaway, West Virginia to Ralph and Gertude {Rollison} Wilson.

She married Charles Richard Cook on September 17, 1960, and they were married for 64 years.

She worked for Edmont Wilson for 15 years, for Jeld-Wen for 22 years and as a Real Estate agent for 17 years. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ with her husband for decades and donated monthly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She liked to make quilts and she loved sewing. She made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She liked shopping in Amish country for supplies.

Mary will be deeply missed by her children Tammy Smith, Terry Smith; three granddaughters and ten great-grandchildren and brother James Wilson.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles, grandson Nate Smith, brothers Thomas, Haywood and Wayne Wilson and sons-in-law Jon Smith and Bruce Smith.

Friends may call Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel 18260 Coshocton Rd, Mount Vernon, OH. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Bret Van Houten officiating. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
