Mary Louise Grashel

Mary Louise (Swick) Grashel, 63, of Mount Vernon OH, passed away Thursday May 11, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her family, in Mount Vernon.

Mary was born October 15^th, 1959, at home in Buckeye Lake, Ohio to Neil Elias Frederick and Charlotte JoAnn {McMullen} Swick.

She attended Lakewood High School.

She married Arthur (Butch) Grashel on December 24^th, 1991. 

She worked as a cook at the Licking County Memorial Hospital, then the head cook for Dennison University.  She also worked at Hisan Industries, then at Utica Care Center, retiring as the head of housekeeping.  She had been a member of the First Church of God, and a lifetime Chapter Y member.  She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Ladies.  She never passed up a yard sale. She loved bargains.  She was very active assisting families from all the food pantries.  Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandkids and family.  She was everybody’s OG nana.  She will be missed by her dog, Tasha.  Everyone should get a sweet tea from McDonald’s in her honor.

Mary will be deeply missed by her children Misty (Ryan) Bennett, Angel (Chris) Allen; grandchildren Kayla (AJ), Ethan (Kayla), Mason, Rachel, Austin (Renee), Katie, Christa, Samuel, Micah and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Kingston, Claire, Cooper, Clayson, Oliver, Addalynn, Alivea and Destinee; many nieces and nephews; sisters Shelly (Irv) Small, JoAnna Swick; brothers Scott (Laura) Swick and Michael Lewis, and many close friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Jeffrey Swick.

Friends may call Friday May 19 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel.  Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home.   Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.   Memorial contributions may be made to any local food pantry in her name.
