Mary Agnes Lawrence

Mary Agnes Lawrence, age 94 of Mount Vernon, OH passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Country Court, in Mount Vernon.

Mary was born on May 6, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Andrew and Anna (Tablett) Stoutenburg. Mary retired from Weyerhaeuser Company in 1986. She volunteered at the Knox County Museum and was a member of the Knox County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Mary loved socializing with people and spending time with family. She prayed daily for God to put the love of Jesus in everyone’s heart and give them the knowledge and wisdom to deal with their situation whatever it may be.

Mary is survived by two daughters; Connie M. Matthews of Dresden, and Virginia “Ginny” S. (Todd) Cochran of Mount Vernon, a son; Donald R. (Cathy) Moxley of Mount Vernon, daughter-in-law; Mary Mealey and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Max R. Lawrence, two sons Ronald D. Mealey (and his wife Jane), Hilbert “Sonny” Mealey, two grandsons Larry Matthews, Jr., Kevin Matthews, three brothers; Carrol “Todd” Stoutenburg, Theron “Spike” Stoutenburg, Vaughn Stoutenburg and five sisters; Anna Zimmerman, Martha Straight, Dorothy Bennett, Virginia Holland, and Mildred “Millie” Sellers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 206 East Ohio Avenue, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

Friends may call Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Melvin Haught officiating. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
