Michael Andrew DiMaio

October 31, 1943 — July 25, 2023

Wooster

Michael Andrew DiMaio, 79, of Wooster, died July 25, 2023, peacefully at his home.

Michael was born October 31, 1943, in Chester, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Josephine DiMaio.

Michael proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He married Peggy Wright on May 6, 1972. They were happily married 41 years before her passing in 2013. He worked as a Grinding Specialist at Borg Warner/Bosch Rexroth for 33 years before retiring in 2005.

Michael, or Mike, as most people knew him, enjoyed his daily trip to the gas station for his morning coffee, his multiple times a week trip to Bob Evans to sit in his favorite waitress Tina’s section, and most recently hanging out at Spoon Market or Mariola Italian. He loved attending Triway sporting events to watch his grandchildren, Devan, Colton and Brody play, which filled him with so much pride and joy. He also loved watching his future grandson-in-law, Cole, play football at the College of Wooster the last 5 years. You would also find him supporting the Triway volleyball, girls’ basketball and softball teams even without a grandchild playing. Wherever he was though, he was dressed to a T with a smile on his face ready to greet anyone that came his way.

Most people don’t know that he was a very good singer and a wonderful cook, and he often liked to brag and boast at what a great baseball player he was back in the day, which we are certain is true.

Michael’s greatest love was spending time with his family. His favorite people got to call him Pop-Pop; that and “dad” were his most cherished roles. He wanted to create memories with his family, and that we did, especially at our Christmases and through travel.  From cruises to beach trips and an unforgettable trip to Italy and Greece in 2018 with Devan and his daughters, Kim and “Missy”, fun and lasting memories were created. The laughter we shared and stories we have could last a million lifetimes.

Michael will be deeply missed by his daughters Kimberly DiMaio of Hilliard; Melissa (Barth) Snyder of Wooster; grandchildren Devan (Cole) Hissong, Colton Snyder (girlfriend Olivia Mathis), and Brody Snyder; sister Justine Watson of Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Connie and Charlie Lepold of Wooster, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Al and Kathy Wright of Wooster; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Peggy, Michael was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Bob Watson.
