Nita Garnette Carpenter, 93, of Rittman, OH, passed away May 1, 2026 surrounded by her family at her home in Ritman.
Nita was born July 16, 1932 in Hughes Creek, West Virginia to Lewis Edward and Effie Mae {Fleming} Campbell. She married Leroy Carpenter on June 12, 1948.
She worked for Admiral Machine for 30 years until she retired. She manufactured tire molds and other equipment. She attended the Church of God in Rittman for many years until Leroy needed care. She loved gardening, shopping (till you drop) Hobby Lobby was her domain, gospel shows on TV and read her Bible all the time. She liked to cook and peanut butter fudge was a special at holidays. The other guys were jealous of the huge lunches she sent with Leroy and the kids. “I don’t want you to starve at work.”
Nita will be deeply missed by her children Lloyd K. Carpenter, Judy Jackson, James (Judy) Carpenter, Carolyn (Robert) Stehler, Joseph “Jojo” E. Carpenter, and John “Johnny” A. Carpenter; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Nita was preceded in death by her husband, daughters Rhoda Baker and Joyce Howell, granddaughters Stacey Holik and Rebecka Howell, grandsons Nicolas Michael Stehler and Joshua Carpenter.
Friends may call Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville, OH. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com
