Norma Getz-Carpenter

Norma J. Getz-Carpenter, 87, of Ashland, died Monday, December 14, 2020 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born June 19, 1933 in Buffalo, New York to Frend Don and Eva Mae {Brott} Tucker.

She graduated from Ashland High School in 1951.

She married Carl Howard Getz on April 4, 1951.  He died on November 23, 2012. Norma then married Watson Poole Carpenter on May 15, 2013. He survives.

Norma loved and enjoyed her time as a school secretary at Pleasant Street and Grant Street Elementary School’s for over 25 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Grace Church, both in Ashland. Norma enjoyed sewing, cooking, and singing and visiting residents at local nursing homes. Everyone that knew Norma, knew her for her smile and kindness.

Norma will be deeply missed by her husband, Watson of Ashland; children David Carl Getz of Ashland and Darla June (Dan) Vansickle of Marion; grandchildren Ben, David (Jessica), Evan, Dawn, Nathan, Aaron (Tiffany) and Travis (Jessica); great-grandchildren Kaia, Skyla, Hannah, Brycen, Carly, Ethan, Jackson, Benny, Brittany, Koby, Kolton, Alaina, Addison and Owen; step-children Denny Carpenter, Watson Carpenter Jr., Robert Carpenter, Kenneth “Randy” Carpenter and Alecia Hunter; numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sister Leola Stepp of Ashland; brother-in-law Jim (Karen) Getz of Ashland; many nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, of 60 years, sister Nellie Watson and brother Leslie Tucker.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland.  Private services will be at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Strachan officiating.  Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
