Opal was born September 4, 1925 in Wayne, West Virginia to Jink and Flaura {Watts} Fortner .
Before retiring from Crown Steel Industries after nine years, she was a housekeeper in California and was known for her hospitality and recurring customers. Opal was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Rittman. She enjoyed quilting and word searches later in life. Opal most loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her new great great-granddaughter.
Opal will be deeply missed by children Charles Robert (Patricia) Fortner of Kettering, Evelyn Bealer of Norton, Thomas (Loretta) Jervis of Rittman; grandchildren Angela R. (Keith) Huntsman, Charles Robert “Robby” Fortner Jr., Joshua L. (Kim) Poehls; great-grandchildren Hannah M. Young, Hayley G. and Kristen S. Griffin; step great-grandchildren Joseph Huntsman and Lillie Wodek; great great-granddaughter Aiyanna M. Young.
Opal was preceded in death by her son-in-law Ronald Bealer, friend Homer Jervis, brothers Ervin, Virgil, Leslie, and Ernest Fortner, sisters Sarah Ann Mathis, Mary Ellen Baxter, and Ruby Donaho.
