**Raymond Raphael Russell Jr**
**August 24, 1989 – February 5, 2026**
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Raymond Raphael Russell Jr, a cherished son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Raymond departed this world peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, intelligence, and curiosity.
Born on August 24, 1989, in Cleveland Ohio, Raymond was the beloved son of Bernadine Russell and the late Raymond Russell Sr. From an early age, it was evident that Raymond possessed a remarkable intellect and an insatiable curiosity for the world around him. His academic journey began at Wooster High School, where he graduated as part of the Class of 2008. Raymond's pursuit of knowledge continued at Case Western, where he double-majored in History and Religion, before earning an MBA from Simon Business College.
Raymond's career was marked by dedication and success. He began his professional journey at MCMaster-Carr before finding his niche as a leasing accountant at Amazon, where he worked for several years. His colleagues remember him not only for his expertise but for the genuine warmth and camaraderie he brought to the workplace.
A man of diverse interests, Raymond was a proud member of the chess club and the debate team, and he was known to join every gym he could. His love for chess was matched only by his passion for stocks and day trading, travel, hiking, and meeting new people. Raymond's commitment to personal growth was evident in his self-taught mastery of the ukulele, which he played with joy, often accompanying it with poems and short songs of his own creation.
Those who knew Raymond will remember him as a fountain of knowledge, "way too smart for his own good," as some would say with affection. He was a people person, always eager to engage with others and share his enthusiasm for life. Raymond's self-driven nature allowed him to learn and excel in any subject that piqued his interest, turning him into a lifelong student and teacher in the eyes of those who loved him.
Raymond's joy for life was reflected in his dedication to health and fitness, and he approached each day with gratitude and a zest for living. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply.
In addition to his mother Bernadine (George) Russell, Raymond leaves behind his brother, Charles Mitchell Russell; nephew, Hank Russell; nieces, Luciana and Josephine Russell; uncles Alan (Laurie) Ratliff and Lionel (Erika) Ratliff; cousins Amanda (Derek) Schmid, Jennifer (Joe) Wasserbeck, and Caitlin (Cameron) Bahler; along with countless friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and wisdom.
Raymond was predeceased by his father, Raymond Raphael Russell; his maternal grandparents, JoAnn and Mitchell Ratliff; his paternal grandparents, Jewell and Charles Russell; and his uncles, Wendell Ratliff, Dwayne Ratliff, and Mark Russell.
As we gather to celebrate Raymond's life, we honor the incredible man he was and the light he brought into our lives. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, inspiring us to live with the same passion, curiosity, and love that he so generously shared with the world.
Ray was a donor with a rate blood type, through his tragedy he was able to save 7 lives with his donations. He was truly a super hero!
