Richard J. Kaylor, 94, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by family at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.
Dick was born September 16, 1932, in Wooster to Clarence and Grace {Frick} Kaylor.
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Shirley G. Janko in 1953; she passed in 2016.
Dick was a foreman for Bogner Construction for over 40 years. After retirement, he oversaw construction projects for Smuckers. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster. Dick loved to golf, fish, hunt, collect coins, and woodworking. There was nothing he wouldn’t or couldn’t do. Dick was known for his kindness and generosity; he never met a stranger. He loved spending winters in Estero, Florida for many years.
Dick will be deeply missed by his children Catherine Varner and Dennis Kaylor; grandchildren Jason Jordan, Terra Jordan, Candice (Kurt) Schneider and Corree (Scott) Springfield; great-grandchildren Zoey Jordan and MacKenzie Jordan; great-great-grandchildren Remi, Hayden, and Bianca; and special niece Ruth Ann Gordon {Johnides}
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandson Christopher Kaylor, daughter-in-law Shelley Kaylor, brothers William and Wayne, and sisters Helen, Mary, Dorothy, and Lucille.
Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.
