Russell Allen Clapper, 63, of Marion, OH, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in his sleep at home, in Marion. Russell was born April 27, 1963 in Columbus, OH to Terry and Erma {Baldwin} Clapper.

He graduated High School from Mount Vernon and later married Lori Gantz on May 29th, 1999.  He enjoyed camping, drawing and cheering OSU Football. He liked watching Ghost Hunters and the Oak Island adventures. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a loving brother to his sister and showed care to many people around him. He enjoyed joking with folks. He was cared for by Jessica and Richard Loving for several years. Loni Howlett was a good step-daughter.

Russell will be deeply missed by his fiancé Barb Ortman; children Heidi Hawk; grandchild Autumn (Matt) Caruthers; great-grandchild Bristol, sister Tonya (Dan) Potter, nieces Delaney and Jordan, nephews Austin and Cameron Potter and his beagle Lucy. Russell was preceded in death by his son Rusty Clapper, parents and his wife Lori.

Memorial services will be Monday June 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens – Peace Garden, 18260 Coshocton Rd, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 with Pastor Rick Ford officiating. Burial will follow. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Hospital.
