Shirley Holmes

Shirley Jean (Franks) Holmes, age 74 of Shreve, OH entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on December 28th, at Brookdale Senior Living Clare Bridge Facility after a long period of declining health.

She was born on August 25^th, 1948, to Harry C and Daisy {Humphrey} Franks in Wooster, OH.

Shirley graduated from Northwestern High School in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart Arthur W Holmes on December 17,1966.  

They had 2 sons, Aaron T. (Katie) Holmes of Wooster, OH and David A. (Bethany) Holmes of Springboro, OH.

Shirley had many jobs in her life Including United Telephone Company and Wayne County Children’s Services, but her longest of over 20 years was as an Administrative Assistant for the O.A.R.D.C (Director’s Office and then Dept. of Entomology) and retired from there in 2010.

She loved gardening, traveling, and singing in the church choir, but above all else, it was caring for her family and home that she enjoyed the most.

In addition to her husband and children, Shirley is survived by her siblings Cathy (Les) Steele, Wanda (Herman) Teague, Harry C. (Becky) Franks Jr.; Grandchildren Daniel (14), Ellen (11), Sam (14), Ethan (11), Ezra (6) and Shepherd (6); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Daisy Franks.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm at Grace Church in Wooster. Services will be Wednesday at 11 am at Grace Church with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating. The service will be live-streamed at www.robertsfuneralhome.com/shirley-holmes. Private interment will take place at Wooster Cemetery. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements. Memorial tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com.
