Thomas was born January 17, 1947, in Elyria, Ohio to James and Lillian {Cooley} Collier.

He attended special education classes at Midview School in Grafton and worked for Murray Ridge in Elyria. Tom enjoyed fishing in his pond, bowling, telling jokes – he had a wonderful sense of humor. Tom had a fear of flying until he decided to fly to Las Vegas to gamble. He then traveled even further to Maui where he enjoyed boogie boarding, Luaus, and riding in an electric submarine.  Tom loved animals, especially his dog Fern. He attended First Presbyterian Church, where he was a greeter.
