Thomas F. Radecki

January 3, 1942 — January 24, 2023

Seville

Thomas F. Radecki, 81, of Seville, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on January 24th, 2023.

He was born in Cleveland on January 3rd, 1942 to Casey and Birdie Radecki. Tom showed his love for those around him by providing for their needs, especially those involving food and protection.

After serving 4 years in the Navy as a Signalman, Tom was a meat cutter at the family business, R&K Sausage in Cleveland, founded by his grandfather in 1917. He left that field to pursue a long-term career in law enforcement, but continued to create specialty sausages and other meat products in his home butcher shop, to the great enjoyment of family and friends. His extensive police experience included the Medina County Sherriff’s Department, and the Police Departments of Montville and Lafayette Townships, while the last years of his career were spent as a detective for the Cleveland RTA.

He enjoyed travelling with his wife Joanne, her brother Roy, and sister-in-law Marie, which gave them stories that were the source of laughs for years afterward. Tom was a lifelong fan of Cleveland football and baseball; a favorite phrase since 1964 was “there’s always next year!” Large family gatherings were activities he especially cherished, and much planning went into the cookouts and clambakes he coordinated for them. Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne, his children Ken (Marci), Dan (Sara), Tom Jr. (Sherri), Joyce Angelo (Tom), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Bill and sisters Joanie, Mary and Shirley. The family is forever grateful to all of the compassionate staff and volunteers of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, who managed Tom’s care in his final months. Contributions in Tom’s honor can be made online at https://www.ohioshospicelifecare.org, or by check, to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691. Visitation will be held on Saturday 3 to 5 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 9560 Acme Rd, Seville, OH. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
